Telangana Auto Drivers Joint Action Committee (TADJAC) has given a call for one-day Auto Bandh on March 8 in the twin cities demanding immediate suspension of Tolichowki Traffic Police Inspector Shiva Chandra for registering a false case against the driver of Auto Rickshaw No AP 13Y 1700 illegally and also for stoppage of traffic police and RTA ever increasing “Zulum”.
Addressing the media heretoday, TADJAC convener of Mohd Amanullah Khan said auto driver Akram, after paying a heavy penalty of Rs 8,025 in the RTA West Zone office, approached Inspector Shiva Chandra on February 19 and requested him to release the seized vehicle, which was kept in the Goshamahal Traffic Yard. To his surprise, the Inspector, instead of releasing the auto retorted, “You have just paid RTA Challan and if you want the Auto released, you have to pay Traffic Challan again” and so saying issued another Vehicle Check Report. That means the Traffic Inspector asked the hapless driver to pay Rs 8,025 for the second time. It was like hanging a death convict for second time for the same offence, Amanullah Khan said.
As the Traffic police Inspector withdrew his notice and not released the Vehicle Check Report, the TADJAC would go on one-day bandh for his immediate suspension and his cruel attitude, Amanullah Khan said and demanded that the Traffic police withdraw the challan against the Auto Driver and the vehicle be released without further delay.
Amanullah Khan also clarified that the proposed Auto Bandh on March 8 was not against the State government but against the harassment of the Traffic Police and RTA authorities who were bringing a bad name to the TRS government in connivance with the Opposition parties. The authorities were registering thousands of cases against auto drivers with an intention to bring disrepute to Chief Minister KCR, he added. He also demanded that the government exempt drivers from 8th class pass condition as assured by the Chief Minister. (NSS)
