Telangana HM & FW Department on Thursday claimed that only three persons succumbed to Swineflu (H1N1 virus) in the current season from August 1 to September 23.
In a bulletin issued on Thursday, the department stated that 101 of 621 samples were found positive and another 16 of 57 samples taken on September 23 proved positive from August 1 to September 23.
The Principal Secretary (HM & FW) has stated that adequate stock of medicines were available in all the teaching hospitals, district hospitals and Area hospitals. There are also enough testing kits and kits for Viral Transport Medium (VTM). Besides, Institute of Preventive Medicine (IPM) was providing free testing services to all in-patients from private hospitals, the pressnote added.
The Principal Secretary has advised the citizens to take precautions such as reporting to the hospital on the first symptoms of Swineflu like high fever, sneezing, cough and body pains. The citizens are also advised to avoid crowded places, handshaking, cleaning of hands frequently and cover nose/mouth while sneezing and coughing. The Principal Secretary also advised the hospitals to immediately examine the patients with flu symptoms and isolate them if the samples proved positive besides sending samples to IPM with full address of the patient and contact phone number.
Homeopathy doctors also advised the citizens to take Homeo medicine as a preventive measure under guidance of a doctor. They said the medicine was available free of cost in Govt Homeo Hospital, Ramanthapur and all AYUSH dispensaries. (NSS)
