Suspicious movement at border triggers firing by BSF

Jammu, December 14: The BSF today fired at two places along Indo-Pak border after noticing some suspicious movement in Kathua district, a day after it foiled an infiltration bid from across the other side.

Troops patrolling the area observed some movement in the forward areas of Karol Krishna and Pahadpur border out posts (BoPs) along international border in Kathua district in the early hours and opened fire, a senior BSF officer told PTI.

The patrolling parties opened a few rounds of fire.

Security was further tightened along the borderline, he said.

The BSF had foiled an infiltration bid under the cover of Pakistani firing in Ballard BoP in Samba district yesterday.

These incidents have taken place close on the heels of visit of Union Home Secretary G K Pillai to forward BoPs on Saturday.
