Suresh Prabhu flags off new trains

Union Railways Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu flagged off Train No. 11307 Gulbarga-Hyderabad (Daily) Intercity Express; Train No.11083 Mumbai LTT-Kazipet (Weekly) Tadoba Express and Time Tabled (Weekly) CONCOR Cargo Express Service from Nagalapalli to Tuglakabad (via Remote Video Link).

He also Commissioned Two Lifts at Nizamabad Railway Station  (Via Remote Video Link) and inaugurated AC Retiring Rooms and Dormitory on Platform No.1, Secunderabad Station and  100% LED lighting at Hyderabad and Kacheguda Stations at a function held today at Secunderabad Railway Station on Monday.

Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatraya, Union Minister of State for Home Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali, Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Home Minister Nayini Narsimha Reddy, Excise Minister T. Padma Rao Goud, Transport Minister P. Mahender Reddy and Telangana BJP President Dr. K. Laxman, were amongst a galaxy of dignitaries present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu said that provision of passenger amenities like lifts, escalators, retiring rooms, dormitories, improvement of lighting at stations are the top priority for Indian Railways. The introduction of two new trains between Gulbarga-Hyderabad Intercity Express and Mumbai LTT-Kazipet Tadoba Express which were a long cherished demand of the people of these erstwhile Hyderabad State regions is being realized today said the Minister. Two/Thirds of Earnings of Railways come from freight traffic, but this segment has been neglected for the past many years. Now this Ministry is taking up reforms in this segment by introducing Time Tabled cargo services said Suresh Prabhu.

The other areas of prime focus are reducing cost of expenditure on power. Indian Railways which is a big consumer of electricity is on energy saving mission. In order to minimize the consumption of power, Railways is tapping renewable energy sources, illuminating the stations through LED lighting, practice of prudent energy audit methods in a big way. Due to these Railways has saved Rs. 3,500 Crores on power, the Railway Minister said.

Telangana State the youngest state of the country is on the path of development. Railways too will take part in this progress by setting up two new time bound green field terminals at Cherlapalli and Nagulapalli with the cooperation of Telangana State Government, said Suresh Prabhu. He also stated that the possibility of providing rail connectivity to Shamshabad Airport from Umdanagar through underground rail network be dealt by discussing with the State Govt. The feasibility study of this project will be assigned to RITES said the Minister.

Bandaru Dattatreya appreciated the efforts of Railway Minster’s initiatives for development of Railways infrastructure in the Telangana region. He requested the Minister of Railways to provide rail connectivity to Shamshabad Airport also through MMTS.

Deputy CM Mahmood Ali stated that justice is now being made to Telangana. (INN)
