Hyderabad, October 30: The Rajya Sabha member and Congress senior leader, Mr V Hanumantha Rao, has observed that the resignation of Ms Konda Surekha from the Rosaiah Cabinet would not have any impact on the winning prospects of the ruling party in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections.
In view of the recent political developments in the state, Mr Hanumantha Rao called on the Chief Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, and the PCC president, Mr D Srinivas, at their residences this morning and conferred with them on various matters, including the ensuing GHMC elections.
Speaking to media persons, Mr Hanumantha Rao termed the resignation of Ms Konda Surekha as her personal matter. The decision of the Chief Minister would be final in the matter, he said and exuded confidence that the Congress would definitely clinch the GHMC Mayoral post. The departed chief minister, Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, would have bothered very much on the recent political developments in the Congress, had he been alive, he added.
The Rajya Sabha member called upon the party workers to strive unitedly to bring victory to the party in the ensuing GHMC elections. The Congress would also go for electoral alliances with other like-minded parties in the GHMC elections, if necessary.
Mr Rao said that the Karnataka minister and Obulapuram Mining Corporation owner, Mr Gaali Janardhan Reddy, was trying to topple the BJP government in Karnataka with the money earned by mining business. He felt that Mr Janardhan Reddy Brothers had only money power, but not popular support. He also disclosed that he had requested the Chief Minister, Mr Rosaiah, to take action against the illegal actions taken place in the OMC deals. (NSS)
