Students complain of flawed allotment

Hyderabad, August 16: The Eamcet engineering counselling seat allotment list released by the officials here on Sunday evoked mixed reactions from students.

Some students complained that they were allotted seats in mid-ranked colleges in the web-based counselling though they were eligible for top colleges based on their Eamcet ranks.

However, officials said that the students will be given the option to change the colleges in the second phase of counselling, which is likely to be conducted in the first week of September.

Students were shocked to find out that they got seats in colleges which figured at the bottom of their priority list in the web-based counselling.

“All the students will be allowed to change colleges in the second phase. If the students are unsatisfied with the seat allotments made in the first phase, they can give fresh options in the second phase. The seats allotted in the second phase will be considered final for those who have not cancelled their seats allotted in the first phase,” said Mr Raghunath, camp officer, Eamcet admissions.

Shockingly, 2,055 students were not allotted seats as the options given by them on colleges and courses did not match the merit secured by them. Officials said the students gave fewer options though there was a facility to give a maximum of 3,000 options. The limited options given by them were not sufficient for allotting seats as they were allotted to students who secured better ranks than these 2,055 students.
