Bangalore, October 23: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah today favoured a State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) on the lines of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), which would immediately swing into action in case of any calamity.
“State governments have to establish adequate early warning systems to the level of vulnerable communities in case of a disaster,” he said in his address on ‘Solutions to Natural Calamities’ organised by the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) here.
“Apart from immediate rescue and rehabilitation, states have to evolve a long-term strategy by preparing plans for disaster management, integration of measures for prevention or mitigation of disasters into development plans and proper allocation of funds,” he said.
