State government declares Jubilee roads as a commercial zone

Hyderabad, June 28: The state government is all set to declare Roads 1 and 10 in Jubilee Hills as a commercial zone. This follows several property owners approaching Mr M. Maheedhar Reddy, municipal administration and urban development minister, to declare the roads as commercial zone.

A decision on the matter was held back during the revision of the master plan in October 2010. The HMDA had declared the main road leading to Film Nagar via Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and the circular road along the KBR National Park as commercial zones in the revision but did not take up the issue of Jubilee Hills Roads 1 and 10.

Mr Maheedhar Reddy has now issued orders and the department is preparing to issue a notification calling for objections and suggestions on conversion of the two roads from residential zone to commercial. The MAUD principal secretary, Mr B. Sam Bob, held a meeting with the commissioners of GHMC and HMDA who in principle recommended the conversion.

The roads, stretching for 1.5 km, begin at Jubilee Hills checkpost and re-join at Road No 36 near Peddamma temple junction. “The advantage with conversion is that the property owners are spared from the ordeals of obtaining permission for change of land use individually,” a senior official said. It will also save property owners from paying fee for converting land use to commercial.
