Hyderabad, July 26: The state government on Tuesday issued prohibitory orders against the commercial use of plots in Prasashan Nagar, the housing colony of All India Services officers.
The revenue principal secretary, Mr Anil C. Punetha, issued orders empowering the managing committee of the Prashasan Nagar Co-operative House Building Society Limited to take back plots from officers who violate the rules and attempt to put the vacant residential plots for commercial use.
Ironically, the managing committee had made a recommendation against commercial use turning a blind eye to scores of officers already converting their bungalows into commercial ventures.
A series of reports by the Vigilance and Enforcement and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation pointed out gross irregularities in coverting residential houses into office and commercial space.
Tuesday’s orders, however, apply to only those officers who still kept their plots vacant.
The committee insisted that a No Objection Certificate from it is necessary for even disposal of the property, adding that the committee will take the plot back if the No Objection Certificate is not obtained.
