Start made all the difference in CL- T20, says Warner

New Delhi, October 22: A markedly better start to their innings was key to New South Wales’ thumping 79?run victory over Victoria Bushrangers in the first Champions League Twenty20 semifinal, explosive NSW opener David Warner said.

Batting first, NSW got off to a flying start with Warner (48) and Phil Hughes (35) raising 62 runs inside seven overs.

In contrast, Victoria were reeling at six for three after three overs and they could not recover thereafter.

“Good start always makes the difference. If you can get two or three wickets in the first six overs, that is generally good enough,” said Warner, who was adjudged Man of the Match in last night’s all-Australian encounter.

“As openers, our job was to give the team a good start and we did that,” he added.

Warner also heaped praise on his bowling colleagues, who restricted Victoria to 90 for nine in their allotted 20 overs.
