Srinagar :To raise an awareness campaign regarding the advantages of electric mobility, India on Tuesday launched first ever all-electric car expedition from Kashmir to Kanyakumari in Srinagar today.
The expedition was flagged-off by former Sri Lankan international cricketer Aravinda de Silva and Chief Executive Officer, Mahindra Reva, Arvind Mathew. The expedition will be carried out by three fully-equipped, expedition ready, electric cars, which would cover a distance of over 5,000 km.
The cars would cover 52 locations across the country in the 30-day expedition. Some of the major cities where the expedition will take its halts will be Delhi, Jaipur, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
With the issues like climate change and carbon footprints taking the centre-stage, the expedition is a good opportunity to promote greener environment, de Silva said on the occasion. “I am confident that apart from creating awareness, this drive will also bust some myths associated with electric cars.
Let us together create a sustainable and a clean society for better tomorrow,” the former cricketer said. ‘The Goodness Drive’ was organised by Mahindra Reva.Mr Mathew said Mahindra would make electric vehicles more accessible in order to build a cleaner tomorrow.
