London, July 11: World number two golfer Jordan Spieth has insisted that he is buoyed by his improved performance in the second round of the John Deere Classic, a warm-up event ahead of the Open Championship.
The 21-year-old American fired a seven-under-par 64 to move within five shots of leader Justin Thomas.
Reflecting on his performance, Spieth said that he made a big step forward today, the BBC reported.
Spieth, who is eyeing a third consecutive major title at St Andrews after winning the Masters and US Open this year, insisted that although he wasn’t feeling great after yesterday, shooting a solid round gives him a lot of confidence in his preparations for next week.
Following his US Open win at Chambers Bay, Spieth had decided to rest himself but admitted that he was feeling rusty after a level par opening round of 71. (ANI)
