Rampur (UP), December 12: Strongly opposing Chief Minister Mayawati’s proposal to trifurcate Uttar Pradesh, SP MP Jaya Prada today said the BSP supremo considers the state as a “cake” which she wants to “cut into pieces”.
“UP desh ka dil hai. Samajwadi Party dil ko cake ki tarah katne nahin degi (UP is the heart of India. SP will not allow its division),” the former actress told reporters here.
“Behenji (Mayawati) treats UP as a cake which she wants to cut into pieces,” the Lok Sabha MP from Rampur said adding, if the BSP chief started to pursue her “divisive agenda”, the SP will launch a vigorous agitation against it.
Favouring carving out of smaller states, Mayawati yesterday sought the Centre’s consent for creation of separate Bundelkhand and western Uttar Pradesh states.
