Lucknow, May 28: Opposition parties in Uttar Pradesh are gearing up for the polls raking up the issues of corruption and farmers problems as the main agenda for their Mission 2012.
Although the elections are nearly a year away in the state, the political parties have already manifested their campaign designs against the Mayawati government in the state.
Samajwadi Party which was ousted from the power primarily because of deteriorating law and order situation in the state, has planned some aggressive campaign against the ruling party, inspired by the AIADMK campaign in Tamil Nadu against Karunanidhi’s DMK.
In a novel campaign being planned out in SP, the party proposes to release prototype of currency notes with pictures of some monuments built by Mayawati on these to signify the alleged corrupt practices of BSP government in the last four years.
A senior SP leader, on condition of anonymity, said here today that prototype currency notes would be one of the publicity materials against the BSP government which will project how the present state government had siphoned off public funds in the name of parks and memorials. ”
The publicity currency notes would have the photographs of a statue of Chief Minister Mayawati as well,” the leader hinted admitting the campaign was inspired by the similar campaign in Tamil Nadu polls recently.
