Sonam & Akshay Mett together at Dubai

Mumbai, March 30: Calling all Bollywood fans: if you want to catch some of your favourite stars in action tomorrow then lace up those trainers and get set for a marathon Tuesday, as Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Suniel Shetty strut across Dubai in a blitzkrieg promotional spree for their upcoming film, “Thank You”.

According to sources, a couple of the celebs arrived last night while Kumar and Kapoor are expected to jet in early morning, Tuesday, for their first stop of the promotional tour: the Emirates NBD Branch on The Walk, Jumeirah Beach Residence between 1pm and 2pm.

Photo ops will be aplenty for fans, but we can’t help you if you are torn between posing with the celebs or running into the nearby Sheraton Hotel to possibly catch the action-packed ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 semi-final between Sri Lanka and New Zealand.

After a four-hour break, which will probably see the celebs break for lunch and an afternoon siesta, the foursome from director Anees Bazmee’s multi-starrer comedy will head to Oasis Centre for another public outing around 7pm, and we hope will be there long enough to sign autographs and pose for enough pictures to satisfy their respective fan following.

Be there on time to catch the starry action because 30 minutes later, organisers Xcellence Events and promoters MarComCompany Group Infinity will herd off Kumar and gang and for their date with fans and media at the Lama Desert Camp.

Here, following media interviews, the stars of the film will partake in a unique promotional event where one chosen couple will renew their wedding vows in front of them.

A Hindu marriage set-up will see a complete wedding set-up and a priest present to perform the ceremony. The film, which has been co-produced by UTV Motion Pictures and Twinkle Khanna, also sees Irrfan Khan, Celina Jaitley and Rimi Sen in pivotal roles.

‘Thank You’ outlines the story of three married friends (played by Deol, Shetty and Khan), who want to spice up their humdrum lives by embarking on extramarital affairs. Kumar is playing a marriage counsellor, while the three leading ladies play the suffering wives.

Kumar has said that women are going to thank him for revealing the dirty, dark secrets of philandering husbands in the film. “The men will want to run away but I’m sure their wives will collar them and bring them along,” he said, adding that he has no reason to fear his wife’s wrath. “I’ve never been tempted to stray.”

However, actor Khan who is playing a Casanova in the film insists it’s a “tribute to housewives.”He adds: “Intrinsically a comedy, this film is a social, emotional drama. It’s a thankyou note to the women in our life, who take care of our homes, children and us. The film will boost the female ego.”

No Bollywood film is complete without a trademark ‘item’ song and this time sex symbol Mallika Sherawat has been roped in to gyrate to “Razia Goondon Main Phas Gayi”. Vidya Balan is also going to appear in a cameo.
