Son kills father over property dispute

Anantapur, October 09: In a shocking incident, a 65-year-old man was hacked to death by his own son following a property dispute at Emvaddipally, Talupula mandal in the district early on Saturday morning.

According to police, the victim, Jangaiah was a resident of Vaddipally in the district. Jangaiah had two wives. Jangaiah had distributed his property equally between the children of his wives.

The accused Venkatarama (48), son of the first wife, was reportedly against sharing the property with the children of his stepmother and had been voicing his opposition to his father since some time. He had demanded that his father give him the entire property.

On Saturday morning Venkatarama has started an argument with his father on the issue. The argument soon infuriated him. He grabbed a sickle and hacked his father to death. Venkatarama ran away from the spot after the incident.

Police reached the spot on getting information along with clues team and dog squad. The body was shifted to hospital for autopsy.

A case has been registered under sections 302 and 307 against Venkatarama and efforts are on to nab him.
