Sompeta blast: No clue about culprits

Srikakulam, September 24: Even 24 hours after the bomb blast at Mahalakshmi Nursing Home in Sompeta, the police remain clueless regarding the kind of the bomb or about the culprits. However, highly placed sources said it was not a crude bomb as a detonator was found from the site.

It may be a time bomb containing less explosive materials aimed at creating a major impact but causing less damage.

Speaking to Express, superintendent of police, Srikakulam, Sanjay Kumar Jain said two teams from Regional Forensic Laboratories (RFS), Visakhapatnam had completed preliminary investigation but were yet to submit their report.

After getting the RFS report, it will be sent to Forensic Science Laboratory, Hyderabad.

The police will take action depending on the final report from Hyderabad, the SP said. The final report is expected by September-end, the sources said. According to deputy superintendent of police of Kasibugga D Varada Raju, the owner of the nursing home where the bomb exploded, Krishna Murthy, had lodged a complaint at Sompeta police station regarding threatening calls he was receiving from unknown people and investigation was on. However, nobody has been taken into custody in the case so far.
