New Delhi : Indian tennis ace Somdev Devvarman has been granted a financial assistance of Rs 35 lakh by the Sports ministry to meet the expenses on training, travel, accommodation during this season.
“The ‘in-principle’ approval of the Competent Authority for financial assistance of Rs. 35 lakh from National Sports Development Fund (NSDF) has been granted for training during the year 2016,” said a Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports release.
The 30-year-old singles player, who reached a career-best ranking of 62 in 2011 before being beset with injuries, is currently 186 in the ATP rankings. (ANI)
