Tirupati, August 14: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams will take up the sixth phase of Kalyanamastu (mass marriages) at Lalita Kala Thoranam in Hyderabad on Saturday.
According to executive officer IYR Krishna Rao, about 70 couples will enter into wedlock at the auspicious hour of 11:40 am in Tula Lagnam of Hasta Nakshatram on that day. About 35,000 couples from poor families have tied the knot in the last five phases of the programme.
Trust board chairman DK Audikesavulu Naidu said the TTD would present a gold mangalasutram, silver toe-rings, a set of wedding clothes to the couple and an attendant. The couple will also be provided the darshan of the Lord on Tirumala on a date of their choice. The TTD will arrange wedding feast for the families and relatives of the bride and the groom.
Chief minister K Rosaiah, endowments minister G Venkata Reddy and Union minister for urban development S Jaipal Reddy will attend.
