Hyderabad, August 14: Tension prevailed inside the English and Foreign language University (EFLU) campus after scores of students staged a protest demanding better facilities for them on the campus.
Not a single class was held in the campus as irate students also locked up the lecturers and administration staff inside their office rooms. The students were demanding that they be provided with better mess and water facilities.
“There is not enough seating for the students in the two messes here. The seating capacity is almost half of the total strength of students studying on the campus. There are hardly 10 to 20 workers who are working in the mess for preparing food to more than 1300 students. Water supply problem also needs to be solved urgently,’’ G Priyank Verma, an M Phil student alleged.
The students said that despite several pleas to the university officials to solve their problems, no action has been taken so far.
The students now gave an ultimatum to the vicechancellor Mohammad Miyan to act upon their demands by August 17 failing which they would intensify their strike.
