MUMBAI: Bollywood actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh becomes emotional on Colors’s reality show ‘The Rising Star’ while talking atrocities being committed against children and women in Syria by the country’s forces loyal to Bashar al-Assad.
Diljit, who is one of the judges of India’s most popular show watched by over 100 million people worldwide took the opportunity to thank Khalsa Aid, a UK based NGO for their humanitarian work in Syria and and civil conflict zones around the world.
While reacting to the performance of a contestant, Diljitsaid, “It seems the humanity has died in Syria. Since Rohan Preet (the contestant) hails from Patiala, I would like to inform that Ravi Singh ji from Khalsa Aid has traveleld to Syria to help the victims there. I just want to say that he’s not alone. We are all with him. I would like to thank Khalsa Aid today.
“The aim of this reality show was to remove the barriers in society…I would like to appeal to everyone that we must live with harmony across the world including Syria.”

Syria has been under siege for years by the Assad government. More than 340,000 people have been killed, and millions forced to flee the country or internally displaced in the conflict, which began with anti-government protests in 2011.
New air strikes in the Syrian rebel enclave of Eastern Ghouta hit last month raising the civilian death toll from seven days of intense bombardment to over 500 including more than 120 children, according to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor.
