The Side-effects of women employment

New Delhi, January 17: Let’s try to understand it with an example: In a village there was a Contractor and he had a team of 100 male workers on Rs.100 per day.

Then came women employment and 100 female workers emerged. The workers doubled but the work remain constant, so the contractor asked the women workers to settle for lower wages. They settled for Rs.75 per day. Now the contractor was having 50 male workers and 50 women workers on Rs.75 per day.

Now the situation is:
25 working men married to 25 working women.
25 working men married to 25 non-working women.
50 non-working men were unemployed as well as unmarried and committed crimes.
25 working women remain unmarried.
25 non-working women remain unmarried and suffered poverty.
The contractor became rich and helped in spreading inequality.

The moral of the story is that you can’t think of women unemployment at the cost of male employment. In India where 85% of the population is living under $2 a day, people need better employment opportunities. For them women employment may not necessarily be a good idea.
