Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today said Siddipet in Medak district got 100 per cent of toilets with active cooperation of the people and leaders.
Launching Swacch Siddipet program here on Friday, Harish Rao assured that similar facility will be extended in the entire Medak district in the near future. Assembly Speaker S Madhusudana Chary, who was present, said efforts will be made to make the “Clean Siddipet” into Green Siddipet.
Legislative Council Chairman Swamy Goud inaugurated the event by beating a drum at the event. Later Harish urged the officials and leaders to maintain personal hygiene and ask the people to follow suit. Individual toilets were constructed to get rid of open defecation problem in the town.
On the occasion, they also began Swachch Siddipet program in the town. “Every individual should encourage “Swachch Village” program to keep it clean and green”, he said, adding that “We will be healthy when our environs are clean and green. Harithaharam program is to overcome pollution problem and attract more rains”, the minister said. In addition to 30 lakh saplings planted in Siddipet, another five lakh saplings are being planted, he said. He asked the people to protect the same after planting them.
Speaker S Madhusudana Chary said his Bhupalapally constituency will also be made an ideal segment in Warangal on same lines. Praising Harish Rao for trying to develop his segment, he said Siddipet created history and will be emulated in the State for rapid growth and speedy development. (NSS)
