Srinagar : Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), IG Ravideep Sahi on Friday stated that the massive search operation launched in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday was successfully carried out.
“South Kashmir is a bit hot, lots of local militants are joining various outfits and we are trying to bring the situation under control. Yesterday’s operation was important, was carried out successfully,” Sahi told ANI.
Earlier on Thursday, two Army personnel and a civilian were left injured after terrorists attacked an Army patrol party in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district.
The exchange of fire between the security forces and militants is still underway.
Earlier, the security forces cordoned off more than 20 villages in Shopian in the wake of recent terror attacks in the Valley.
The Indian armed forces, comprising nearly 3,000 security personnel, undertook a major operation in the valley to sniff out terrorists.
Last Tuesday, suspected terrorists barged inside a police post guarding the court complex of southern Shopian .
The terrorists decamped along with five service rifles including four INSAS rifles and an AK-47 rifle. (ANI)
