Shiv Sena and VHP’s efforts to exploit Ram temple proved to be a fiasco

The trick of inciting the nation on the issue of the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya on the place where Babri Masjid stood till 25 years ago seems to have failed now.

In the past the Bhartiya Janta Party has won elections over the emotional issue of the construction of a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya. Now since the VHP and Shiv Sena announced their grand plan to mobilize hundreds of thousands of their cadre to the temple town, the entire Eastern Uttar Pradesh is sitting on a tinderbox.

People residing in that area were concerned about their safety as the saffron outfits were on a mission to improve their electoral graphs by bringing their people to the town. Even people who were travelling in trains were having a tough time and worried about their safety.

As the communal rage has once again reached the boiling point, there have been many appeals from some community leaders to avoid travelling on the train.

It was a Lal Krishna Advani who assisted by the BJP’s paternal organization, the RSS, to bring the nation to its knees when he embarked on the Ram Janam Bhoomi Rath Yatra, that ended in the well-planned destruction of the historic Babri Masjid on 6th December 1992.

Thousands of people lost their lives in riots that broke out across the country in the wake of Babri Masjid demolition.

The VHP and Shiv Sena, despite their high-pitched rhetoric, failed to attract the people to their rallies in Ayodhya, shows that common people have finally learned. Even people like LK Advani, Uma Bharti, Sadhvi Rithambara, Murli Manohar Joshi and Vinay Katiyar were not present in the recent rally in Ayodhya.

Despite every effort of the VHP and Shiv Sena to communalise the atmosphere, and force Muslims to speak and get involved in the issue, the community has regularly kept quiet. This has weakened the spirit of the Sangh.
