Jordan seeks release of Journalist after UAE pardons Britisher

Jordan: The recent release of British Academic Mathew Hedges by the UAE after he was sentenced life imprisonment, Jordanian activists are calling on Jordan Government to pressure the UAE for the release of Jordanian Journalist Tayseer al-Najjar.

Najjar landed in UAE jail after he criticized Egypt, Israel, and Gulf countries on Facebook, MEM reports.

The UAE pardoned Hedges on Monday on the country’s National Day.

Coming to Najjar’s aid a UK-based Arab Organization for Human Rights has previously said that al-Najjar detention in the UAE is a severe violation of human rights.

The organization had called on the UAE authorities to cancel the verdict against al-Najjar and drop all criminal charges against him and release him.
