Surat, August 29: A local court here today directed that the passport of Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty’s father Surender Shetty, an accused in a 2003 extortion case, be handed over to him and asked him to return to the country within four months.
Surender had appealed the court to release his passport, which is in court’s custody, as he needed to travel abroad for his daughter’s marriage and for some business trips.
Sessions Judge V R Vyas ordered that the passport be handed over to Shetty on a personal bond of Rs 2.5 lakh and asked him to submit it back to the court by January 1, 2010.
