Shah killing :JK govt assures speedy probe

Srinagar, April 15: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said speedy investigations will be carried out to identify the persons involved in the killing of Jamiat-e-Ahli Hadees chief Moulvi Showkat Ahmad Shah.

“It took 20 years for separatists to admit who was behind the death of Mirwaiz Maulvi Farooq (father of Hurriyat Conference chairman Umar Farooq). I am not going to wait another 20 years for the truth to come out,” he told reporters on the sidelines of PTI Employees’ Federation meeting here.

The religious leader, who had denounced stone-pelting and was engaged with the Centre’s interlocutors, was killed in a blast outside a mosque in the city on April 8.

When asked if the attack was handiwork of militants, Omar said, “You know it as much as I know…Investigation is on. We have certain directions that we are following.
