Srinagar, April 10: Separatists in Jammu and Kashmir today opposed the passage of a bill in the state assembly banning inter-district recruitment and providing eight per cent quota to scheduled castes in government jobs, terming the move as anti-Muslims.
“It is our obligation to oppose moves, which are against the development of people here(Kashmir valley). The assembly has passed a bill aimed against the Muslim majority of the state. It is a loss to the identity of this region”, Chairman of moderate Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Umer Farooq said.
Amid uproarious scenes, the state assembly yesterday passed a controversial bill which bans inter-district recruitment and provides eight per cent quota for scheduled castes in government jobs in all districts.
Mirwaiz said his organisation opposes the bill as it is beneficial to one region and harmful to the other.
