Separate ‘T’ state is the only solution: BJP

Asifabad/Utnoor, Jan 29 (INN): Bharatiya Janata Party Maharashtra state unit president Sudhir Muniganti on Sunday stated that the development of Telangana would not be possible with special regional councils or financial packages.

Addressing a massive gathering at Asifabad while participating in Telangana Poru yatra, Sudhir Muniganti said that the regional councils and financial packages would not serve any purpose and the development of region would be possible only with the formation of smaller states.

He recalled that the Centre announced a special financial package when the demand for separate Vidharba state surfaced in Maharashtra region. However, the financial package did not solve any problems of Vidharba people, he said.

Muniganti slammed the Centre for delaying the statehood issue despite 800 people committing suicide for the cause. Stating that demand for statehood persisted since five decades, he said at least now the Centre should make sincere efforts to bifurcating the State.

The Centre should not test the patience of Telangana people and introduce a bill on Telangana in the parliament, he stated.

BJP state president G Kishan Reddy accused the Congress party of cheating the people of Telangana on the statehood issue. He said the BJP will introduce a cut motion in the State Legislative Assembly during the budget session with the support of all parties in Telangana Political Joint Action Committee.

Kishan Reddy asked as to why Telugu Desam president N Chandrababau Naidu, who launched Rythu Poru Yatra, did not start a similar agitation for Telangana. “This clearly shows he was ambivalent on the statehood issue,” he said.

The BJP leader asked both the Congress and TDP MPs to make sincere efforts towards formation of Telangana state before the beginning of budget session of Parliament. (INN)
