Sehwag misses century, India on backfoot at 173/3

Colombo, July 28: Virender Sehwag threw his wicket to fall on 99 as India lost three quick wickets to reach 173 for three at lunch on the third day of the second cricket Test against here today.

India resumed its strong reply to Sri Lanka’s massive first innings 642 for four declared but lost way towards the close of the first session.

By lunch, India had lost Sehwag, Murali Vijay (58) and Rahul Dravid (3) with Sri Lanka spinner Suraj Randiv striking twice.

India still trail by 469 runs with Sachin Tendulkar (2) and VVS Laxman (0) to resume to the innings.

Sehwag, who resumed at overnight 64, looked set for a big innings but missed out on his 21st Test century half an hour before the break.
