Sehwag accused of cheating

Allahabad, August 18: An Allahabad court on Tuesday admitted an application for filing of criminal charges against star batsman Virender Sehwag and his business partner Siddharth Dilawari.

Sehwag, who is currently undergoing rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore, will be booked under sections 406 (cheating), 417 (breach of trust) and 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) along with business partner Dilawari.

The two have been accused of duping a college teacher, Deepa Srivastava, of Rs 2 lakh. Srivastava had entered into an agreement for a franchise of Sehwag’s restaurant chain ‘Favourite’, managed and marketed by Dilawari.

But after taking the payment, Dilawari did a U-turn and refused to honour the deal. The restaurateur returned Rs 70,000 before shifting base to the USA.

Injury, surgery, left out of the team, in trouble with the state cricket association and now on the wrong side of the law, Sehwag is definitely going through a bad phase.
