Teacher’s body recovered in AP

Hyderabad, August 18: The body of a 34-year-old teacher, who was washed away in an overflowing nala due to heavy rains last night, was recovered at Chintal area under Jeedimetla police station here today.

According to police, the teacher, working in a private school, was washed away when he accidentally slipped into the overflowing nala while walking along with an elderly person at Venkateswara Nagar in Qutubullapur outskirts of the city last night.

The body was sent for a post-mortem.

Meanwhile, the state capital recorded one of the heaviest rainfall of 11.2 cm bringing traffic to a grinding halt at many places in the city.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) personnel rushed to different parts of the city to ease waterlogging. People in several places and colonies were marooned due to the heavy downpour. People residing in low-lying areas experienced heavy water gushing into their houses and spent several hours pumping the water out of their premises.
