Security beefed up at NEHU

Shillong, September 11: Security in the premier North Eastern Hills University (NEHU) has been beefed up following a clash in the varsity campus that left three students injured.

“We have beefed up the security arrangements and we would like to reassure the parents, especially those from outside the state, that the students were completely safe in the university,” NEHU vice chancellor Pramod Tandon told a press conference today.

Three B Tech students, all from Assam, sustained injuries in a clash reportedly with law department students inside the varsity campus on Tuesday evening.

Assam Education Minister Gautam Bora and a delegation of the All Assam Students Union (AASU) visited the capital city yesterday, met the NEHU authorities and student organisations besides discussing measures to prevent such incidents.
