KASARGOD: Sec 144 imposed for a week in Kerala’s Kasaragod district after incidents of stone-pelting during a dawn-to-dusk bandh protesting the killing of a 34-year-old Madrassa teacher by unknown assailants.
The District Collector(DC) issued the orders after incidents of violence reported from different parts of the district on Tuesday.
“People should not pay any heed to rumours. It is still not clear who was behind the murder. But no rumours should be spread,” he told the leaders of different political parties, as per media reports.
Post-mortem reports revealed that as many as 28 injury marks were found on the slain Madrasa teacher’s body, out of which three were of serious nature.
After post-mortem at Pariyaram hospital, the body was handed over to his family despite MLA N A Nellikunhu’s demand for public viewing to pay last respect.
