Hyderabad, September 29: South Central Railways on Wednesday denied reports which appeared in a section of the press that railway police personnel allegedly threw out four passengers from Kacheguda – Guntur Passenger between Mahabubnagar and Devarakadra Railway stations on Kacheguda – Kurnool section on Tuesday night.
SCR Chief Public Relations Officer Chandrima Roy said that the media reports were false since no escort duties are assigned for ordinary passenger carrying trains.
She stated that the Mahbubnagar police were enquiring into the incident, even as the police have registered a case.
Ms Chandrima Roy stated that in the early hours of Wednesday, one Bedyajangam Govindu K from Minugupalli of Devarakadra Mandal was brought by local police and admitted at Government General Hospital at 4:45 AM. He was treated for minor injuries and discharged at 9:35 AM. Govindu is a ticket less passenger.
The CPRO said that the incident in fact happened between civil passengers and general ticket holders, when the general ticket holders wanted to enter the reserved Sleeper Coaches of Train No 405 Passenger at Mahabubnagar Town Halt Station.
Amongst the passengers travelling in reserved coach, included Salim Khan, a local civil police constable from Mahabubnagar district. This clearly shows that the dispute was between reserved passengers and unreserved passengers travelling by the train.
Immediately, on coming to know that some incident has occurred, Railways took the initiative of alerting the drivers and guards of following trains, gatemen to be on the lookout for any passengers who might have fallen from the train. “Patrolmen were also sent to search the nearby area,” Ms Roy said.
