Hyderabad, October 20: Regalla Santhosh Kumar, sports journalist of Eenaadu Telugu daily, was named for the Jagan Mohan Rao Memorial Award for the year 2009 given to the best Telugu sports journalist.
The award has been instituted in memory of veteran journalist C Jagan Mohan Rao.
The award selection committee, comprising of eminent sports journalists and analysts, V V Subrahmanyam, J Srinivas, Narender Revalli, Rajamouli Chary and Voleti Srinivasa Bhanu, had gone through the entries sent by several sports writers.
The award carries a cash prize of Rs 5000 for the winner.
Santhosh Kumar’s piece on Sachin Tendulkar, which was written to mark the occasion of the master batsman completing 20 years of international cricket, won him the award.
Santosh Kumar hails from Chinoor in Adilabad district and he is in the journalism field for the last 18 years. At present he is working in Eenadu as Sports Editor He had covered many ODIS, Test matches in and outside India and other tourneys like Chess World Championship and World Cup, a release said here yesterday.
