NEW DELHI: In yet another statement that may trigger a controversy, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said that it ‘was safer to be a cow than a Muslim’ at many places in India.
Taking to his micro-blogging site Twitter, Tharoor on Sunday wrote, “Why BJP Ministers’ claims about reduction in communal violence don’t stand up to the facts: It seems safer in many places to be a cow than a Muslim.”

Besides Tharoor, CPI(M) leder Sitaram Yechury quoting a news report tweeted, “This is the track-record of ‘Vikas’ that Modi has unleashed in past 4 years. His ministers justify these, as these killers are born, fed and nurtured by Sangh’s ideology of communal hatred,” Yechury wrote.
