Mumbai, March 24: A local Dewas (Madhya Pradesh) court issued a fresh production warrant against Sadhvi Pragnyasingh Thakur, the prime accused in the 2008 Malegaon bomb blast case, for her alleged involvement in the murder of Sunil Joshi, a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) activist, Sadhvi’s defence counsel Rameshwar Gite told on Wednesday.
“She will have to be produced before the Dewas magistrate on April 1,” Mr. Gite said. This is the second time in a month that the Dewas court has issued a production warrant against Sadhvi. The last warrant was issued in February-end. “It was not executed because the special MCOCA court here passed an order stating that the Dewas magistrate had not sought its permission for taking her,” he said. “This time, the magistrate has sent a request letter along with the production warrant,” he said.
The MCOCA court asked a team of doctors and psychiatrists from the Sir JJ Hospital to submit a report regarding her mental and physical health. This was done after Sadhvi requested the court to allow her to take private psychiatric treatment. Accordingly, a report submitted by a team of Sir JJ Hospital psychiatrists said she was suffering from depression and mental disorder, Mr. Gite said.
“The report states that she is depressed because of her illness and that she needs psychiatric treatment,” he said. He said defence counsel would get a copy of the report after a week. “I read it yesterday [on Tuesday] and wrote down the details,” he said. “The report said that because of her medical condition, she should not be made to travel by bus. She can travel by train or by plane,” he said.
