State Government will bring back past glory of abundance waters in lakes, ponds and water bodies in villages and towns to increase farm activities, Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy has said. He participated in lakes revival program at Peerla Cheruvu in Durki village of Birkur mandal of his home district Nizamabad. He drove a tractor laden with black fertile soil and dumped at nearby farm land.
Later he said that the lakes revival program under the flagship program of Mission Kakatiya will bost agriculture activities by supplying adequate waters. So far we could succeed in our efforts to restore lakes under phase one and with same enthusiasm with people support the phase two will continue he asserted. The lakes on revival will supply waters and fertilizer of black soil to the nearby fields and help reap in benefits Srinivas Reddy stated. Ultimate objective of the government is to achieve golden Telangana for overall development of the state he added. During Kakatiya rule the Telangana region had 76000 lakes of which 46000 lakes are remained while the rest are encroached upon or illegally occupied. However, the TRS Government will restore the lakes and water bodies to help rural folk get into farm work with necessary financial help he vowed. (NSS)
