Lucknow: Bajrang Dal activists attacked a police station in Agra on Saturday to rescue five men said to be Bajrang Dal volunteers who were detained at the Sadar Bazaar Police Station.
During the attempt to rescue, a police official was attacked and his vehicle was set ablaze.
According to the news published in Indian Express, Sushil Chandrabhan, Asst. SP, Agra City said that the incident occurred after the BJP MLA of Fatehpur Sikri, Udaybhan Singh left the spot.
According to Shlok Kumar, Asst. SP, five men were detained when they protested to drop the FIR registered against nine Hindu men for alleged physical assault to the members of the minority community. They also demanded to register FIR against the members of minority community.
Police used mild force when the protesters misbehaved with a senior police officer earlier.
Following this, the activists, on Saturday evening attacked Santosh Kumar, Sub-Inspector of Police of Shaganj Police Station when he was returning home.
According to the police, activists also attempted to break the lock-up of police station.
