Excise & Sports Minister Padma Rao Goud today presented Rs 1-crore cheque and documents relating to allotment of 600 sq yards plot in Banjara Hills to Indian Women Cricket team Captain Mithali Raj here.
The minister felicitated Mithali Raj at the Secretariat and hoped that the cricketer will achieve more goals in future. He said the amount and plot was to fulfill the promise made by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. KCR is for encouraging sports at all levels in a big way, he said. KCR has announced the gift when Mithali Raj team played the finals recently in the World Women Cricket Championship.
Kabaddi champ from Dec 31
The Minister also the Telangana Kabaddi Association is organizing the 65th Senior National Kabaddi Championship for men and Women from December 31 to January 5. Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India, Sports Authority of Telangana State and State Olympic Association at GMC Balayogi Indoor Stadium, Gachibowli, Hyderabad, he said.
Goud said Hyderabad has been chosen to conduct the 65th Senior National Kabaddi Championship for the first time after formation of the Telangana State. Altogether 1,500 players will participate, including national and international awardees from 29 States and those from Services, Railways and BSNL. The matches will be conducted on synthetic Kabaddi mats in the Indoor Stadium on league-cum-knockout basis under floodlit lights on all the six days, he said. All knock-out matches to be played on last three days from January 3 to 5 in both men and women sections.
