Hyderabad, October 22: The State Republican Party of India here on Friday demanded that the State government withdraw the recently issued G.O. Rt No 1307 which stipulated that the students, who apply for scholarships, to get their Income certificates notarised for confirmation and the conditions cited in the GO should not be made applicable under any circumstances.
Talking to mediapersons, the RPI State president, Mr Bojja Tarakam, said that the impugned GO will be of no use, but it would only subject the poor students to hardships in procuring Income certificates by
spending a lot of money.
Pointing out that earlier it was enough to get the income certificate signed by Tahsildar, Mr Tarakam said that the government has stipulated a new condition that the Income certificates should be notarized on a non-judicial stamp paper and so on. But, it is a costly affair which the poor students cannot bear, he added.
Mr Bojja Tarakam demanded that the State withdraw the GO immediately and save the students from hardships. The new rule would not help the poor students, but it would help the government to earn more in the form of sale of stamps and so on.
He also warned that they would be constrained to launch agitatioal programmes if the government failed to respond. The State RPI vice-president, Dr C. Sundara Rao, the general secretaries, Mr G. Gnaneshwar, Mr Bakki Suresh Kumar and organizing secretary, Mr Kancharla Seshu. (NSS)
