Romesh Sharma seeks bail in helicopter robbery case

New Delhi, March 05: A Delhi court today issued a notice to CBI on an application of Romesh Sharma, an alleged frontman of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, seeking bail in a case relating to robbery of a helicopter.

The Special Judge sought a response on the plea of Sharma who wanted to be freed as he had already undergone more than half of the sentence he may be awarded in case of his conviction.

Sharma, in his application, submitted he has been in judicial custody following his arrest on October 20, 1998.

“The accused/petitioner has already undergone over 11 years in jail while the maximum sentence in the case is life imprisonment. So, he was entitled to bail,” he pleaded.

Sharma also said his co-accused in the matter had already been granted bail.
