Andhra Pradesh Government has declared to celebrate the birth anniversary of “Andhra Kesari Tanguturi Prakasam Panthulu” across the state as a ‘state festival’, Chief Secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao said.
The Chief Secretary garlanded Sri Prakasam Pantulu statue near Ravindra Bharathi on Sunday on his birth anniversary. Sri Prakasam Panthulu is the first Chief Minister of Andhra State and also known as ‘Lion of Andhra’ (Andhra Kesari), Chief Secretary told.
On the occasion, the Chief Secretary said that Sri Prakasam Panthulu was a great freedom fighter and a real inspiration for the people of Andhra Pradesh and there is a lot to learn by the present generation about the greatness of Andhra Kesari. As an Editor he ran a newspaper “Swarajya” newspaper; ran a ‘Khadi’ production centre and also ran a National School.
Birth Anniversary of Sri Tanguturi Prakasam Panthulu may be marked as “Grama Swarjya Dinam” requested by Dr. C.G.K. Murthy, Chairman and Sri Tanguturi Sriram, General Secretary of Prakasam Institute of Development Studies, on the occasion.
Chairman of Legislative Council Dr. A. Chakrapani, Secretary Protocol M.K. Meena and other officers attended the function. (INN)
