Hyderabad: Congress leader and Kodangal MLA A Revanth Reddy today asked Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to explain to the people as to why he was favoring early elections ahead of eight months.
Speaking at the Assembly Media Hall here on Monday, Revanth Reddy said the Chief Minister has responsibility to give an answer to the people on the need for early elections as the people had voted for TRS to rule the State for five years. Finding fault with the TRS leaders, especially KTR for saying that the Opposition leaders were afraid of early elections, Revanth Reddy said the 133 year old Congress had seen several elections and has no fear.
Reminding the Election Commission’s action plan of preparing new voter list by January 4, 2019, he said the former has to conduct early elections with old voter list. “Both KCR and KTR are doing rounds around Delhi and bowing before the Prime Minister”, he alleged. Reminding the BJP and TRS’ opinion that election code was an obstacle for development, Revanth Reddy questioned Modi, who chanted ‘one nation—one election’ all these days, to tell as to why they were extending coordination to the early elections in Telangana State.
He opined that KCR would face fate of NTR in 1989 and Chandrababu Naidu in 2004 elections if prefers early elections. He also pointed out that Rs 500 crore would be needed if 25 lakh people attended the Pragathi Nivedhana public meeting to be held at Kongara Kalan near Ibrahimpatnam. He also demanded that the TRS furnish details of the expenditure they were going to spend. Revanth Reddy said KCR was trying to make his son KTR as Chief Minister of the State.
