Bhopal January 08: (Pervez Bari) The Workshop on “Research Methods and Research Paper Writing” for research scholars of Departments of Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, Psychology and Agricultural Economics & Business Management organized by the Department of Business Administration, Aligarh Muslim University, (AMU), concluded on Thursday.
According to Zeeshan Ahmad, AMU’s Assistant Public Relations Officer, Prof. Hamida Ahmad while presiding over the Valedictory Session appreciated the efforts of the Department of Business Administration. Drawing upon her vast experience of more than 40 years as an academician, researcher and an educationist, she expressed her concerns about ethics in research. She spoke extensively on the issue of “shifting from rote learning mode” and “questioning of basic assumptions” by research scholars. She urged the research scholars to realize that they were on a very sacred journey and they are needed to take up their job of research in the earnest and contribute their bit to the ocean of knowledge.
Earlier, Dr. M. Naved Khan, Coordinator, presented a brief report of the week-long Workshop. He pointed out that one of the dilemmas that research scholars face is how to think in a systematic and analytical way. The problem is that, we are programmed to run in the rote memorization mode and suddenly after getting enrolled as Research Scholars we are expected to switch modes and engage more in creative and insightful analysis and critique for which we are not trained. He strongly emphasized on the need to encourage Research Scholars to question basic assumptions. It was with this objective in mind that the present workshop on the theme “Research Methods and Research Paper Writing” was organized by the Department of Business Administration.
Dr. Khalid Azam, patron of the workshop and chairman, Department of Business Administration, addressed the Valedictory Session and shared his experiences. He advised the Research Scholars to productively utilize their time on the campus. He laid stress on the fact that research is a continuous process and a university is known and recognized the world over on the basis of quality and number of publications of its faculty and Research Scholars.
He conveyed special thanks to Prof. Javaid Akhtar, chief patron of the workshop and Dean, Faculty of Management Studies & Research, for his help and support. He congratulated Dr. M. Naved Khan for taking the initiative and organizing the workshop. He also appreciated the efforts of Mr. Asif Akhtar, In-Charge, Organizing Committee and his team for efficiently managing the workshop.
The participating research scholars also addressed on this occasion and shared their experience.
