Silchar:: External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Sunday announced that Silchar would soon get a regional passport centre that would ease the problems of people in Assam’s Barak Valley.
Addressing a party workers’ rally at Gandhi Mela ground here, Swaraj also said the BJP-led NDA government was focussing on all-out development of Assam, and the central government had already sanctioned one lakh crore rupees for roads and 28 thousand crore rupees for the development of rail network in the state.
She also highlighted various pro-poor schemes of the BJP government such as Jan-Dhan Yojna, Sabka Sath- Sabka Vikas, Mudra bank and Bima Suraksha Yojna etc, and asked BJP workers to go door to door and inform to the voters of Assam about these people friendly initiatives of the NDA government.
BJP workers from Cachar, Karimganj, Hailakandi and Dima Hasao districts participated in the rally.
Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Sarbananda Sonowal, Assam State in-charge Mahendra Singh and senior leader Himanta Biswa Sarma, MP Bijoya Chakravarty and various leaders of Assam BJP also spoke on the occasion.
BJP’s all-India general secretary Ram Madhav was also present at the function. (ANI)
