97% polling for six MLC seats

The polling to fill six vacant seats of Telangana State Legislative Council under Local Area Constituencies concluded peacefully in four districts on Sunday.

Speaking to media persons, Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal informed that the overall polling percentage was 97%. Polling was conducted for two seats each in Ranga Reddy and Mahabubnagar LACs and one seat each in Nalgonda and Khammam. The poling percentage in Mahabubnagar and Ranga Reddy districts was 99.7% while it was 99.72% in Nalgonda and 95% in Khammam district.

Of 771 voters in Ranga Reddy, 769 cast their votes. Similarly, of 1260 voters, 1257 excercised their franchise in Mahabubnagar. Likewise, of 1110 voters in Nalgonda, 1100 cast their votes and of 725 voters in Khammam 692 had exercised their franchise. He informed that 19 candidates were in fray for six vacant seats.

The counting of votes and declaration of results will be on December 30. (INN)
