Panaji, January 13: Red-tapism within Goa government delayed the urgent replies on security matters to the Union home ministry by state’s home department, forcing the former to send a reminder, sources stated.
Highly-placed state home ministry sources stated that Union Home Minister P Chidambaram had addressed a questionnaire to Chief Minister Digamber Kamat on November 10 which got caught in government files.
“This forced the Union Home Minister to send a reminder on December 29 asking the state to furnish the answers by December 31, which were also not complied with,” a senior officer in the home ministry stated.
The Centre’s confidential questionnaire had come in the wake of heightened concern over terror attacks in the country and intelligence inputs that some outfits were trying to create disturbance in the country.
